Tea Time at ARIS SPRINGS

All Organic-All the time

From the land of
the Brahmaputra valley: Assam Tea

Located in the north eastern part of India and surrounded by the magnificent Himalayan mountains and jungles, Assam is famous for its one-horned rhinos and tigers, and also famous for the historical Brahmaputra River that flows through the state. But the one thing that has brought Assam world repute is the Assam Tea. This tea is high in quality, aroma, taste and hence the price. Not surprisingly, Assam is the single largest tea-growing region in the world.

Assam mainly produces two types of tea, which are:

a) First flush: Has richness and Fresh Aroma
b) Second flush: The most popular “Tippy* Tea”

Tea of a different variety

The amount of tip varies depending upon the Tea estate locations in Assam. More importantly, not all tea estates in Assam have the capability to produce "Tippy teas". The "Tippy Tea" produced in Assam, has a propensity to reduce the harsh acerbic characteristic of tea and makes it smooth and sweet too.

Black tea production can be separated into two groups:

A. Orthodox
B. Crush, Tear & Curl (CTC)

Orthodox Tea produced in Assam is mainly exported in the Global market and is prepared using orthodox methods. On the other hand Assam’s CTC Teas are produced mostly for the Indian domestic market. When boiled, the Orthodox Tea produces a wonderful aroma while CTC teas produce a red rich color.

Hence, the teas of Assam valley are smooth, sweet and malty. So, the next time you wake up and sip in the Tea from Assam, just know that you are drinking the best tea in the world!

* Tippy: Black tea with gold tips or what mostly seems to be golden-colored leaf.
