One of the best that the orient has to offer
Dragonwell, also known as Dragon's Well or Lung Ching tea
is grown mainly in the Zhejiang province in China. Lung Ching
is considered to be one of the best organic
green teas. This tea is ideal to drink straight up
and warm but also tastes great when iced with a slice of lemon
or lime. As with all green teas, it is advisable not to add
milk or sugar, as they would mar the delicate flavor and aroma
of this classic tea.
Exquisite features
Dragonwell tea is a totally hand made tea using the traditional
oriental techniques which preserve the natural quality of
the tea and without losing any of its medicinal properties.
The loose tea leaves are broad and flat and are prepared using
a laborious drying process where the leaves are hand fired
in large woks.
The hard work is reflected in this green tea, as dragonwell
tea is one of the most refreshing teas with a subtle sweet
and nutty taste to go along with a heady aroma of greenery.
When brewed perfectly Dragon's Well tea appears as a transparent
pale green liquid.
Medicinal property
Organic Lung Ching tea, like most all organic green teas is
unfermented and hence has a number of medicinal properties.
The tea is considered to have many anti-oxidants which may
possibly help to prevent diseases from cancer to the common
cold. It also is a source of vitamin C and vital amino acids.
Green teas are considered in general to have a number of health
benefits ranging from improved blood circulation to losing
weight and slowing the aging process.
Brewing
The water should be preferably 160-180 F (not boiling) and
the steeping time should be about2- 3 minutes depending upon
the strength desired. The loose leaf tea-leaves can be used
repeatedly for at least 3 times. Dragonwell tea also tastes
great iced. The strength of the tea should be doubled as it
gets diluted when poured over the ice and the steeping time
should be 5 minutes.
